‘Tear it down’ is the new single from Parastatic, featuring spoken word from Late Girl. The trio create music that sits somewhere in the intersection between post-rock and shoegaze, with motorik, krautrock-inspired grooves blending with thumping synths and deliciously textured guitars. The evocative spoken word of Newcastle-based Late Girl adds an interesting new dimension to a usually tight-lipped band. “We saw the climax of this song representing the fury that some people had towards Brutalist buildings finally coming to a conclusion as buildings are demolished, detonated and deconstructed,” they say. “As the song plays from its calm beginnings we hear the fervour of protest and anger rise in Late Girl's spoken word delivery.” Parastatic are dropping their upcoming album, Concrete Reborn, on February 21st, 2025, via Workie Ticket Records. -Dan Peeke
